There is ample proof of Lincoln’s declaration that the destruction of America would come from within. Though said around a civil war, it is still true today. Today we have an internal war around the ideas of socialism and constitutionalism.
Those who understand that America’s greatness has come from following principles of freedom and economic stability have been under attack from establishment forces in government and the media who desire to turn America into a socialist nation. Sadly, many citizens have been beguiled by false promises of a utopia that has never been achieved, though promised by every government which has obtained control over its citizens.
Communism, socialism, tribalism, and oligarchies all have one thing in common: The ruled have turned over responsibility for their lives to the rulers. From paying for their education, determining what kind of information will be contained in that education, to their career choices, or where they live, and even the fuel cars will use (and who will be allowed to have a car)—all these decisions, and more, will be made by someone other than you.
A large percentage of people who live in nations of the world that subscribe to one of these political philosophies like the idea of having someone else determine what they can and cannot do. They like being relieved of the responsibilities that go with decision making. Every decision we make in life involves risk and a lot of people are uncomfortable with risk management. If they are not the ones making decisions, they feel they won’t be blamed for failure that results from them.
For those who consider the ultimate American dream (and of life) is controlling their own destiny, this is not just a strange human reaction to government power, it is downright insane. It reeks of malignant, evil energy. And this energy has been growing over many generations and has weakened America from the inside—just as President Lincoln predicted.
The solution to the destruction of America is to return to the principles of freedom and prosperity for all that were enshrined in the US Constitution. These principles took a fledgling country—large geographically, but small in global influence—to the world’s super power in a short 100 years.
