socialism is a proven failure

Socialism Returns Us To The Dark Ages

Yes, embracing Socialism IS going backwards. The reason the Founding Fathers created the Republican form of government we have with our Constitution, is because Socialism had already been proven to fail.

One constant throughout history, besides the tendency to repeatedly attempt failed formulas, is to rebrand those formulas so they sound new. Since Socialism has failed so often, socialists of every stripe bend over backwards to disassociate themselves from the many other disasters created by their ideology. Still, a skunk by any other name, still stinks.

The idea of Socialism perfectly fits our day – it fits with all the other “miracle” products so popular today. It’s “nice,” it’s “fair,” it “helps” people who “deserve it” by taking things away from people who “have too much.”. It sounds like the utopia America promises, doesn’t it? But just like most products with sleazy salesmen and hidden track records, the promises Socialism makes are all a mirage.

However, there are four promises you can count on:
1) It breeds strife and division: To can acceptance, Socialism has to turn people against each other. First, if your going to control people’s lives, the people who resist control need to be seen as evil. If your system includes confiscating the wealth of successful people, then  you must show how their greed is anti-American and cause others to suffer. As a result those who receive the spoils (the “have nots”) and those who are being robbed (the “haves”) learn to hate each–which only helps those driving the strife engine.

2) It muzzles free speech: As Orwell described in his book 1984, Socialism requires propaganda, intimidation, and coverup to survive. Socialism can’t survive open, honest debate because it cannot survive the conversation. Reagan once asked, “How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.”

3) It kills economic growth:  John F. Kennedy once described economic growth as; “A rising tide (in the economy) lifts all boats.” In other words, everyone benefits from a strong economy – which is created from Americans working to build (not steal) a better life. With Socialism, the government takes from the successful people to give to those who want a better life without working for it. As the successful lose more and more of what they work for, they are inclined to work and produce less.

4) Government increases in its tyranny: Like the pigs in Orwell’s Animal Farm, socialists believe that, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” The more socialism you have, the less equality (and freedom) you will have because Socialism can’t survive if people are free to choose whether they want socialism or not. This means that those who are “more equal” have to acquire more and more power from the less equal–ultimately leading to tyrannical rule by a small few over the majority.
