Alexis de Tocqueville (author of Democracy in America) is believed to have said, “America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”

Though this quote appears to be a summarizing of something he said, rather than an actual quote, Foundations of Liberty recognizes that there are many good things within our society, and that goodness is needed for our Republic to thrive. As a result, this site includes more than teachings of constitutional principles of freedom and good government. It also includes cartoons, memes, and videos that show the goodness available to those who look–so we’ve done some looking for you.

We believe America is great and has a great future. We know that there are challenges to overcome, but American’s have proven up to each challenge they have faced in our great history.

America is great because it still offers more freedom than any other country.

America is great because it continues to strive for improvement in extending those freedoms to others–including those overlooked or ignored in our own country. Yes, it has been a slow march of freedom and improvement, but the principles our founders believed in have allowed us to continue to evolve to meet the needs of our citizens.

America is is great because its people are still allowed to fail without the “protection” of an oppressive state.

America is great because it offers more opportunity and social mobility than any other country in the world.

America is great because the destiny of the young is not given to them, but created by them.
